McMorris Rodgers: Creating Jobs for Eastern Washington and the City of Asotin

Statement

Date: May 20, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) today issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3080, the bipartisan Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014, which streamlines and strengthens water transportation networks to create jobs and support economic growth.

"America is blessed with an unparalleled network of natural harbors and rivers. Significant to all of Eastern Washington, this legislation accelerates water project delivery and promotes job growth, and in particular it brings new economic opportunity to the City of Asotin. By transferring land owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to the city, we are enabling shoreline restoration and new recreational opportunities for our community. Strengthening and maintaining the many ports, channels, locks, and dams, which support maritime trade, we are bringing new jobs -- and new opportunities -- to Eastern Washington."
